NEW ARMANI STORE IN SHANGHAI
Located in one the most exciting areas in the centre of Shanghai, the new Giorgio Armani store is all set to become an authentic landmark for all those who, in China as elsewhere, are looking for the finest style with the Made in Italy label. With an interior-design project of supreme elegance and class, coupled with the very special area in which the store is located, the Armani brand is opening another outstanding showcase in Asia, a part of the world that is increasingly intrigued by and interested in Italian fashion and design. The stylist’s new store is next to the recently opened Prada, Chanel, and Dior shops, thus adding even greater prestige and beauty to the district.
With its choice stones, the Salvatori brand is a key element in the success of this sophisticated project, for which Armani has launched a new trend in terms of colours and harmonies. Fully aware of how important the quality of the materials is for the success of the overall look, Giorgio Armani has chosen one of the exclusive natural stones that Salvatori processes with its state-of-the-art technology. And indeed the Tuscany-based company, a renowned leader in the processing of stone products, has been chosen by the stylist for the design of his new stores. This first, outstanding venture is made all the more prestigious by its location, inside the Hotel Peninsula in Shanghai. In the Bund district – the historic riverside promenade along the eastern banks of the Huangpu River – the hotel is in what used to be the British Consulate.
True to the philosophy of the maison, the new Giorgio Armani store has required the most meticulous attention to detail. The material selected is a silk georgette, a stone that displays a stunning range of chromatic variations of gray. And indeed the stylist remarked that this stone perfectly embodies his concept of “graige” – a term coined by Armani to describe a colour between gray and beige. A total of 350 square metres of the Shanghai store will be clad in 120 x 60 cm slabs of this special stone, and the same material will also be used in the brand new Hotel Armani, which is due to open in late 2010 in Via Manzoni, Milan. The decision to use this stone is a clear sign of the excellent level of cooperation built up between Armani and Salvatori. This started with the materials that Salvatori provided for the first Armani hotel, in the world’s tallest building, the Burj Dubai. |
